forty years. | December 4, 2009

Fred Hampton. Chairman of the Black Panther Party, Chicago. 30 August 1948 – 4 December 1969.

“Anything that goes down with oppressed people on the part of the oppressor, it should be reciprocal. And in plain proletarian workers’ language: it takes two to tango. As soon as these motherfuckers go, we go.” – Fred Hampton

Today was the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Chairman Fred Hampton. 21 years-old.
Democracy Now! had an interesting discussion about his life, his impact, his murder by Chicago Police today.
Coincidentally, last evening I drank pints and talked about the Panthers and then came home and put up some Panther propaganda. And now this memorial. That’s it for black power posts for awhile, though.
